Through this inspiring programme we will experience together how easy it is to get in touch with Trees and creatures that live in the Trees.

In this magic week together we will go deeper into the vital role that experiences in Nature play in our lives. We will enjoy guided practices, day and night walks in the surrounding environment, dances, celebrations in the magic and supporting context of the Findhorn Community. This programme will be conducted in both English and Italian.

We will learn how to start a healing process for the Trees and the Earth as well as for our own health. We aim to truly allow, through stillness and an open heart, the feeling of our interconnectedness in the “web” of Nature.

Through a real and vital communication, we will be surprised to discover how Nature inspires us, and the deep impact it has in our lives. 

Can we communicate and receive informations from Trees through a genuine dialogue? Is the influence nature has on people really so powerful and does the authentic Divine rest on this? Could we harmonize our environment in order to amplify its beneficial effects thus restoring health in our bodies? 



 Trees hold great fascination for humanity from their beauty, symbology, and a connectedness to nature.
The forest has been the backdrop for poetry, stories, and art since ancient times. Mythologies always mention trees, often linking them symbolically to Creation and the World Tree in one design or another.

Alchemy, or ancient science of mind and matter, also blends trees with life and consciousness. In art, trees have many forms and are easily drawn by children or beginning artists.

Spiritual Connections: Did you ever hug a tree? Did you ever talk to a tree? Did you ever receive a message from the trees? The most calming place people can think to live is a houses near a stream with many old trees - the sights and sounds of nature surrounding them.
We will follow together the red line drawn by Dorothy Maclean to be in touch with the Kingdom of Nature.

Call of the Trees is a book of messages received from the unseen, inner dimension or soul level of various species of trees. Dorothy Maclean — who received the messages over four decades — explains that “Of course, trees and the nature world don’t talk, as we humans understand talk. In my times of contact, I do not hear words, but convey the meaning of my experiences in my own words.”
The messages are plain-spoken and down-to-earth. Some exhort; others warn; most are salutations from old friends who have something to say about what has been a long and sincere friendship but which has been — up to now — a one-way conversation. Although set down in prose, the messages are poetic in the elegance of their expression, and in the power of the truths they reveal.
Above all, the trees speak of love; of unity among humans, trees, and all the rest of life.
In this magic experience together we will go deeper and deeper into the vital role that the experiences in Nature play in our lives. Human beings can be in deep communication with Trees in Nature. We just have to remember how to establish an even closer connection with them, in order to recognize our own skills in communicating and working with all the subtle realms. 
We can learn from Trees and Nature how to look at events as they unfold, and the glory and wonder that come from them, to accept it all with a heart full of grace and gratitude, and see the divine aspect in everything that happens.

Science
A tree is a perennial woody plant. It is most often defined as a woody plant that has many secondary branches supported clear of the ground on a single main stem or trunk with clear apical dominance. A minimum height specification at maturity is cited by some authors, varying from 3 m to 6 m; some authors set a minimum of 10 cm trunk diameter (30 cm girth). 
Woody plants that do not meet these definitions by having multiple stems and/or small size are called shrubs. Compared with most other plants, trees are long-lived, some reaching several thousand years old and growing to up to 115 m (379 ft) high. 

 Trees are an important component of the natural landscape because of their prevention of erosion and the provision of a weather-sheltered ecosystem in and under their foliage. They also play an important role in producing oxygen and reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as well as moderating ground temperatures. They are also elements in landscaping and agriculture, both for their aesthetic appeal and their orchard crops (such as apples). Wood from trees is a building material, as well as a primary energy source in many developing countries. Trees also play a role in many of the world's mythologies.

Poland's Mysterious Crooked Forest   Discovery - June 29, 2011

In a tiny corner of western Poland a forest of about 400 pine trees grow with a 90 degree bend at the base of their trunks - all bent northward. Surrounded by a larger forest of straight growing pine trees this collection of curved trees, or "Crooked Forest," is a mystery. Planted around 1930, the trees managed to grow for seven to 10 years before getting held down, in what is understood to have been human mechanical intervention. Though why exactly the original tree farmers wanted so many crooked trees is unknown.
In metaphysics it is believed that all trees on the planet are connected and can communicate with each other through frequency vibration. As with all things in our reality, trees are created following the same architectural codes, called sacred geometry.

University of Arizona researcher Brian Enquist and his colleagues have discovered the secret of patterns within individual trees that can be used to describe the structure and functioning of the world's forests. Imagine you are walking through a forest. All around you are trees of different species, age, size and height. It looks pretty random, right? Wrong.
Brian Enquist of the department of evolutionary biology at the University of Arizona and his team have discovered a secret in the trees: Hidden among and within the architecture of the branches are fundamental rules that link the size, shape, age and in fact everything about a single tree to all the trees in a forest. This rule or code reoccurs as the tree grows, creating a fractal - a repeating pattern - like a spiral of daughter branches emanating from the mother branch or tree trunk. These rules hold true across species, so the ratios of lengths and radii of a mother branch to daughter branches are the same for almost all trees.

The world's earliest forest may have been filled with slender trees that were three stories tall and capped with branches that resembled bottlebrushes. That's the picture painted by two newfound fossils that are providing unprecedented insight into the appearance and ecology of the first known forest, according to a new study.

Mythology 

Tree worship (dendrolatry) refers to the tendency of many societies throughout history to worship or otherwise mythologize trees. Trees have played an important role in many of the world's mythologies and religions, and have been given deep and sacred meanings throughout the ages. Human beings, observing the growth and death of trees, the elasticity of their branches, the sensitivity and the annual decay and revival of their foliage, see them as powerful symbols of growth, decay and resurrection. The most ancient cross-cultural symbolic representation of the universe's construction is the world tree.

Yggdrasil - The World Tree

The image of the Tree of Life is also a favorite in many mythologies. Various forms of trees of life also appear in folklore, culture and fiction, often relating to immortality or fertility. These often hold cultural and religious significance to the peoples for whom they appear. For them, it may also strongly be connected with the motif of the world tree.
Other examples of trees featured in mythology are the Banyan and the Peepal trees in Hinduism, and the modern tradition of the Christmas Tree in Germanic mythology, the Tree of Knowledge of Judaism and Christianity, and the Bodhi tree in Buddhism.
In folk religion and folklore, trees are often said to be the homes of tree spirits. Historical Druidism as well as Germanic paganism appear to have involved cultic practice in sacred groves, especially the oak. The term druid itself possibly derives from the Celtic word for oak.
Trees are a necessary attribute of the archetypical locus amoenus in all cultures. Already the Egyptian Book of the Dead mentions sycomores as part of the scenery where the soul of the deceased finds blissful repose.

The evidence for tree-worship is almost unmanageably large, and since comparative studies do not as yet permit a concise and conclusive synopsis of the subject, this article will confine itself to some of the more prominent characteristics.

THE MAGICAL MYSTERY OF TREES

As nature reawakens in spring I find myself awed and energized as I feel the frequency this wondrous transformation produces. Here in North Carolina the redbud tree with its lavender flowers heralds the arrival of the season, followed soon after by the white petals of the dogwood. As these two woodland companions brighten the landscape, I perceive a magical energy beginning to stir.
Most of us are so accustomed to seeing trees that we take them for granted. Often we forget they are fundamental to our life on Earth: They act as our planet's lungs, absorbing carbon dioxide and returning to us life-giving oxygen. Trees provide us with food, raw materials for our homes, heating, shade in the summer, warmth in winter — and they beautify our environments year-round.
Trees are allies and a continuous reminder of the richness and power that the living library of nature holds. In this day and age, however, we have forgotten our bond with these powerful entities because our current way of living is not designed to help nurture or revive this connection.
Our ancestors were intimately connected to the landscape; they revered nature and noted the seasonal changes and intuitively knew that everything held its own magical meaning, especially trees. They approached trees with respect because they knew these entities — who resided in the underworld, the earth and the heavens simultaneously — were endowed with their own form of consciousness. Trees are the longest-lived and largest plant form on Earth, and through history have been acknowledged as symbols of power, wisdom, fertility, and life.
The famous Biblical stories of the tree of life and the tree of knowledge are two archetypal views of the tree, which can be found in mythical traditions and spiritual teachings from cultures the world over. Ancient people believed trees to be infused with an abundance of divine creative energy that could be consciously harnessed by the adept, allowing access to other states of being. Thus, groves of trees were revered in many ancient civilizations, considered a place of reflection where quiet encounters with supernatural forces and beings could take place. Trees growing in rings were used by the Celts as sites for their rituals and ceremonies. Cultures in Asia and Australia regarded trees as mythical ancestors frozen into a vegetable form, believing one could tap into their wisdom.
Over time, different species of trees acquired culture-specific significance. To Buddhists the bodhi, or fig-tree, is considered a symbol of enlightenment, as it was under this type of tree that the Buddha had his spiritual awakening.
The great cedars of Lebanon, prized for their durability, were said to be used by King Solomon in the construction of the great Temple in Jerusalem. The oracular priestesses in Delphi chewed leaves of the laurel tree before opening their minds to receive cosmic wisdom. And the mighty oak, a symbol of immortality and endurance, was revered by the Druids, who ate its acorns before making prophecies.
In my life I have experienced memorable encounters with a variety of trees. However, the best tree story I know involves a dear friend named Henry, who passed from this life several years ago. Henry was a wise, caring, and colorful character who over the years helped many people with their spiritual awakening. With a sweet grin on his face he would often remark, "When it's time for me to leave this world, I'm going to slip out of my body just like I'm slipping out of my jacket."
As Henry said this, he would dramatize his statement by removing his jacket in an effortless, fluid fashion, holding it up, and then gracefully dropping it to the floor. One fall day, Henry who was in his 80's, and in good health, was out delivering telephone books. As I was later told, at some point he sat down under a tree to rest and for Henry that was the end of this reality — he quietly slipped away. When they found Henry, he was leaning up against the tree's trunk, a smile on his face. It seems when his time came, Henry intuitively used a tree to transcend this reality.
Recalling stories such as Henry's and my own tree memories makes me wonder: What will have to happen before our culture is able to rekindle its connection to these majestic entities? Perhaps, as our lives go faster and faster, and we are more easily thrown off-center, we will realize that an antidote to the madness of life can be a visit to the woods; where a few hours spent in the company of trees, or a special tree, can bring a rich harvest of inner discoveries and understanding.
When I take a walk in nature I allow myself to be led to a tree and I send an inner greeting to show my respect and appreciation. As I approach the trunk of the tree, I sometimes sit facing it, or I get close and lean against it. I relax, breath deep, and calm my mind, allowing myself to become one with the tree. At times, in the deep silence, I quickly become aware of how fully alive and powerfully present the tree is, and I feel an all-encompassing connection to the web of existence. As I have come to know, appreciate and revel the mysteries of a tree, I have in turn developed a closer connection to the mysteries within myself.

In ogni appuntamento delle Magie Arboree, persone di ogni genere ed età, adulti e bambini, vengono a conoscere meglio gli alberi attraverso curiosità e attività pratiche. Con una passeggiata condivisa ci si approccia insieme al mito di un albero, di più alberi o erbe, all'analisi dell'ambiente parco o al bosco e alle gerarchie e familiarità fra le piante, al rapporto fra quel particolare mito arboreo e la città, suggerendo iconografie e rappresentazioni vegetali presenti ovunque (spiegazione botanica e dei miti a cura dell'ecopaesaggista Isabella Guerrini).
Inoltre viene realizzata un'esperienza diretta di contatto con gli alberi. Il percorso offre l'occasione di riappropriarsi della consapevolezza e dell'importanza di questi grandi esseri della Natura.

Dopo la spiegazione del mito ed il contatto con gli alberi si ascolta la musica delle Piante, grazie ad uno speciale strumento di rilevazione degli stimoli neuro-vegetali, collegato ad un campionatore. Il gruppo scopre come gli alberi siano in grado di imparare a controllare le risposte elettriche del proprio sistema neurovegetativo, come fossero consapevoli della musica che creano (musica delle piante a cura di Magda Scalini e Tommaso Romanazzi).
Tutti gli incontri di luglio si svolgeranno presso i Giardini Margherita. L'ingresso presso il quale saranno aspettati gli ospiti è quello di Porta Castiglione. Vi consigliamo, se venite in auto, di parcheggiare presso il parcheggio del Baraccano e presso il parcheggio interno dei Giardini (accesso da via Castiglione alta).

Perchè ci ritroviamo in un picnic? 
L'idea è quella di avere l'occasione per trovare tante persone che possano incontrarsi e parlare di agricoltura, di cosa si deve o non si deve fare per uscire dallo stato attuale di cose; il tutto in un'accezione anche colta, un circolo culturale e colturale, insomma: un vero e proprio Club, ovviamente applicando tecniche di agricoltura biologica e coltivando solo prodotti adatti alla stagione, senza dimenticare le piante officinali e i loro estratti e i loro mille usi.
La Serra della musica delle Piante
Nella romantica serra messa a disposizione da Flò Fiori, si potrà ascoltare la musica delle Piante, grazie ad uno speciale strumento di rilevazione degli stimoli neuro-vegetali, collegato ad un sintetizzatore. Lo strumento è prodotto dalla Federazione di Damanhur www.damanhur.it. L'associazione Damanhur Bologna in via Zamboni 62, si occupa di divulgare l'esperienza attraverso eventi e iniziative culturali (infoline: 3398018915). Gli alberi imparano a controllare le risposte elettriche, come fossero consapevoli della musica che creano. Concerti di Musica delle Piante si tengono regolarmente a Damanhur, e sono stati presentati in festival in Europa, in India, negli Stati Uniti e in Canada.

Nell’ambito della FESTA NAZIONALE DEGLI ALBERI DEGLI ALBERI 2010, promossa dal Ministero dell'Ambiente (http://giornatadellalbero.minambiente.it/), il Settore Ambiente del Comune di Bologna promuove anche questa anno una nuova e lunga edizione della Festa degli Alberi che si svolgerà dal 13-28 Novembre, con una serie di eventi ed iniziative in città al fine di diffondere la cultura arborea a Bologna.
Nell'ambito di tale manifestazione l'Associazione Terrarossa Terraverde, realtà divulgativa ed educativa, particolarmente legata alla diffusione della cultura degli alberi, alla didattica ambientale e dell'arte, pro- muove attività ed eventi consolidati a Bologna, strettamente legati alla relazione tra gli uomini e gli alberi e performance come Magie Arboree che, da sempre, Terrarossa Terraverde promuove sul territorio bolognese insieme all'associazione Damanhur Bologna alla quale, in questa occasione speciale, si affiancherà il circolo lettura Nuova Bottega dell'Elefante, con il gruppo di lettura espressiva guidato da Margaret Collina.

Riccardo Pagnanelli / Riciclò che presenta Dal pallet al tavolino: come far rivivere il legno. Workshop per adulti e bambini dai 6 ai 12 anni. L'artista, designer ed architetto Riccardo Pagnanelli, in arte Ric-iclò, da tempo impegnato nel- la progettazione e realizzazione di mobili nati dalla trasformazione di "bancali" in legno recuperati in discarica, metterà a disposizione le proprie competenze conducendo un workshop dedicato al recupero del legno che avvicinerà adulti e bambini al mondo dell'arte del riciclo. SABATO 27 NOVEMBRE 2010 ore 16:00: “LUNA, L’ALBERO GIGANTE DI STAFFORD” presso l’Urban Center. Milena Fraccari, responsabile italiana del progetto What’s your Tree - Engage Network, in collaborazione con Terrarossa Terraverde, introduce la proiezione del documentario che racconta l’incredibile storia di Julia Butterfly Hill e del suo coraggio nel proteggere un’antica sequoia di 2.000 anni nel nord della California. Ha vissuto su Luna, il nome dell’albero, per oltre due anni, riuscendo alla fine a salvarla dall’abbattimento e a portare all’attenzione del mondo intero il problema della deforestazione. Questo video, che racconta i primi 100 giorni di Julia su Luna con interviste e riprese dirette, è più di una semplice storia di una donna e della sua azione rivoluzionaria per salvare una foresta. E’ la storia di un’intera comunità di attivisti che si unirono per salvare qualcosa di magico.

DOMENICA 28 NOVEMBRE 2010 ore 11:00; “MAGIE ARBOREE: ALBERI DELL’IMMAGINARIO”via Broccaindosso. Un breve viaggio alla scoperta dei miti legati a due preziosi esemplari arborei nei giardini bolognesi di due grandi interpreti dell’arte poetica e visiva: il melograno di Giosuè Carducci e l’ulivo di Giorgio Morandi. Passeggiata a cura di Terrarossa Terraverde e dell'Associazione Damanhur Bologna. Una passeggiata che promette un viaggio nei giardini bolognesi di due grandi interpreti dell'arte poetica e visiva, un incontro guidato dall'ecopaesaggista Isabella Guerrini, che svelerà i segreti ed i miti legati dei due alberi. Nel giardino di casa Carducci, dove si arriverà al termine della passeggiate, si potrà ascoltare la voce degli alberi a cura di Plinio Zamboni e la voce di Margaret Collina che leggerà alcune poesie del poeta come Musiche d'Albero. L'esercizio di facilitazione all'ascolto sarà condotto da Silvio Nuvola.

Vi aspettiamo amici degli alberi...
...con una serata dedicata agli alberi, ai miti e alle erbe condotta dagli esperti Isabella Guerrini, Silvio Nuvola e Plinio Zamboni.
Gli alberi dei boschi, dei parchi e dei frutteti hanno molto da raccontarci... saliamo insieme su questi grandi giganti usando la scala dei miti, avventurandoci in un percorso magico e ricco di insegnamenti.

producessero frutti e li aiutassero a ricavarne un profitto, ma perchè sapevano che loro stessi erano, in verità, tutt'uno con la Natura”...

La relazione tra l’uomo e le piante magiche è stata rappresentata in miti, leggende e credenze.
Miti particolarmente significativi sono quelli che narrano l’origine di tali piante.
Nell'estate bolognese 2010 si articoleranno 12 incontri serali, ciascuno di circa 2 ore.

LE SERATE SARANNO ANNULLATE IN CASO DI CONDIZIONI METEO SFAVOREVOLI

Gli incontri saranno differenti e tematici, in ogni appuntamento si affronterà il mito di un albero o di più alberi o erbe, l'analisi dell'ambiente parco o bosco e le gerarchie e familiarità fra le piante, il rapporto fra quel particolare mito arboreo e la città di Bologna, suggerendo iconografie e rappresentazioni presenti in città.
Inoltre verrà realizzata un'esperienza diretta di contatto con gli alberi. Il percorso ci offre l'occasione di riappropriarci della consapevolezza e dell'importanza di questi grandi esseri.
Dopo la spiegazione del mito ed il contatto con gli alberi si potrà ascoltare la musica delle Piante, grazie ad uno speciale strumento di rilevazione degli stimoli neuro-vegetali, collegato ad un sintetizzatore.
Gli alberi imparano a controllare le risposte elettriche, come fossero consapevoli della musica che creano. 
Concerti di Musica delle Piante si tengono regolarmente a Damanhur, e sono stati presentati in festival in Europa, in India, negli Stati Uniti e in Canada.
Un'interessante sperimentazione è tuttora in corso in collaborazione con il Giardino Botanico della Facoltà di Scienze Naturali di Firenze.
Diverse di queste esperienze sono già raccolte nei Cd musicali prodotti dall'etichetta Val Ra Damanhur. Presto un apparecchio per la musica delle piante miniaturizzato sarà disponibile al pubblico, così che questa profonda esperienza di comunicazione con il mondo vegetale possa essere condivisa da chiunque lo desideri.
La rassegna è a cura di Terrarossa Terraverde, associazione e spazio di promozione d'arte, natura e stili di vita ecosostenibili, olistici e consapevoli in via Rialto 4b Bologna e da Damanhur Bologna, associazione bolognese che promuove le attività olistiche e spirituali della comunità presente in Piemonte, a Baldissero Canavese a 15 Km da Ivrea. La Federazione di Damanhur è un'eco-società: una federazione di comunità ed ecovillaggi con una propria stuttura sociale e politica in continua evoluzione.
Per quest'anno è previsto il coinvolgimento di vari parchi bolognesi, oltre ai Giardini Margherita quest'anno saranno coinvolti il parco di Villa Ghigi, il Giardino di Villa Mazzacurati, il Parco di Villa Angeletti, il Parco di Villa Spada ed uno spazio privato sui colli - zona Cavaioni, “L'Orto dei Giusti”.

Ben conosciuto ormai per il suo approccio attualizzato all'opera dantesca e per la propria chiarezza espositiva, Guido Mascagni vive e lavora in un borghetto medievale della prima montagna bolognese.
